Ricky Ponting praised England’s setup for Marnus Labuschagne and said he was impressed with how his “outstanding” planning was. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“I was very impressed. His planning seemed outstanding. There was a very good set-up for Labuschagne with a gully to the leg and a short mid-on, which made him think the ball was going in only to make it an out.” -swinger who attracted him to play.

Ashes 2023: “England have made it very difficult for Australia to score,” says Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting went on to say that England made it difficult for Australia to score runs as they were unable to rotate the strike rate. He further explained:

“England have made it very difficult for Australia to score, which is in stark contrast to when England were batting. Australia had plenty of fielders in the deep spots and deep squares and England were able to rotate the strike.”

“You could argue that that led to Warner’s firing. The score was going nowhere, the pressure mounted and Warner played a shot he probably wouldn’t have. England has been great.” He concluded.
