Australia’s Nathan Lyon spoke about his days with Joe Root in grade cricket. He revealed that the two taught each other how to hit and play ball and touted it as a “quite special moment.”
Both Nathan Lyon and Joe Root are probably among the best Test cricketers in world cricket. Both mastered the art of bowling and batting respectively and have won many games for their team with their amazing performances.

Nathan Lyon, while talking about that period, cheekily joked that his bowling tips helped Joe Root, but his batting tips didn’t help him. Calling it a special moment, the off-spinner while speaking to AAP, said:

“It was quite a special moment. We used to go to training early and I would help him bowl off-break and he would help me with my batting. I think my training has helped him a little more with his bowling than his training with my batting.”

Nathan Lyon also praised Joe Root, who is England’s second-best runner in Test cricket, saying he is one of the greats to play the game. He added that the batter always offers a different challenge. He explained:
“In my opinion, he is one of the greats in the game and what he has done for English cricket should be applauded. Our time playing the grade will hold fond memories for me for the rest of my life. Joe has been one of the best batsmen in international cricket for a long time. He always offers a different challenge and is always looking to improve.”
Both Nathan Lyon and Joe Root square off in the ongoing 2023 Ashes first test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
