The first installment in the highly anticipated Ashes 2023 series lived up to its promise. “It was brilliant, one of my favorite moments in cricket. The noise he made when he brought out the bat, the reaction from the crowd, the reaction from the locker room was incredible. He will stay with us for a long time. I’ve seen a lot of first balls in the Ashes series and people can be pretty nervous. Watch Rory Burns in the latest series. We know we want to win: James Anderson
James Anderson also touched on England’s loss and said that the English team gave their all in the contest while playing an attractive style of cricket. Yet in that every day Australia was one step ahead of them.

“It seems that the way we are playing is working. Obviously we know that we want to win, we will be judged by the result, but as a team it is good that we judge ourselves by our performance”.
“We played four and three quarter days of excellent cricket; it’s just that Australia managed to cross the line. Even Pat Cummins said that he was not sure which side played better cricket. We know who did the whole race.

James Anderson also defended captain Ben Stokes from criticism after the English team had not given Anderson the new ball.
“I didn’t take the new ball in the first innings or at the end of the last day. I had a talk with Ben Stokes about how I was feeling. We agreed that it was the type of pitch that the taller bowlers were getting the most out of. I was completely okay with that.”
