Asia Cup 2023: New PCB President Zaka Ashraf approves hybrid model
There were quite a few issues related to hosting the Asia Cup 2023 as BCCI was unwilling to send India to Pakistan for security reasons. This led to quite a few discussions between BCCI and PCB about the venue of the tournament. Ultimately, it led the Pakistan Cricket Board to propose a hybrid model, which suggested that the tournament will be played in Pakistan in addition to the Indian games, which will be held at a neutral venue.
After much discussion, both the board concluded and the ACC finalized the venues and dates for the tournament. Out of the 13 games, 4 games will be held in Pakistan while 9 games will be played in Sri Lanka.
Najam Sethi after finalizing the Asian Cup venue was left on the sidelines as PCB President and Zaka Ashraf took over. Many reports suggested that the new boss is not interested in the hybrid model. But all reports were quashed when he recently gave the hybrid model the green light despite Sports Minister Ehsan Mazari being against the model.
