Asia Cup 2023: ‘Pakistan Can Beat India Anywhere’ – Waqar Younis’ Colossal Claim On India vs Pakistan Rivalry

Pakistan National Cricket Team big bowler Waqar Younis has made a sensational claim about the India-Pakistan rivalry following the announcement scheduled for the Asian Cup 2023. According to the former captain, Pakistan can beat the men in blue anywhere in the world if they take advantage of their full potential.

The Asia Cup 2023 schedule has finally been revealed and the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy on 2 September. The archrivals will meet on September 10 at the R. Premadasa. International Cricket Stadium (RPICS), Colombo si Nepal do not cause any major upset.

Speaking at the Asia Cup trophy presentation show in Lahore on Wednesday, Waqar Younis said Babar Azam & Co. broke the curse and started winning against India in mega-events. He added that they need to play to their potential to beat Rohit Sharma-led India once again in the main tournament.

“Play well, it’s as simple as that,” Younis said when asked what Pakistan’s strategy should be for the big game, quoted by Sportstar.

“In our time, we don’t win many major tournaments against India. But the good thing is that these guys have started winning against India in important matches recently. That’s a good sign. The monkey is off his back now. So given the talent we have in our team, if we can play to our potential, I don’t see any reason why they can’t beat India. It doesn’t matter where they play. If we can beat them at The Oval, we can beat them anywhere. The talent is there, just go out and play like we are tigers. Let’s put it that way,” Younis said.

On match day, the team that can handle pressure well can succeed: Wahab Riaz

Veteran pacer Wahab Riaz, during the same event, said that the team that handles the pressure well during the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan will emerge victorious.

“On game day, the team that can handle the pressure well can be successful. It is a game of nerves and you need to be focused. Sometimes due to emotion you end up losing focus, but if you stay calm and collected, you can handle the pressure better,” Riaz said.

Most notably, Pakistan had defeated India for the first time in a World Cup event during the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Men in Green also defeated India last year in the Super 4 stage of the 2022 Asia Cup.
