Pakistan all rounder Imad Wasim shared his experience of playing for the national cricket team under the captaincy of Babar Azam of late. Imad Wasim stated that he and Babar Azam had mutual respect while playing for Pakistan, noting their positive working relationship.
There was speculation about strained relations between the two players during the 2022 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Imad Wasim, who previously captained the Karachi Kings, was replaced by Babar Azam in the leadership role, which led to conflicts between the two cricketers.

In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Imad Wasim said that he puts everything aside while representing the nation at the highest level.
“When you play for the country, you put other elements aside, and that’s exactly what we did. We put everything aside.” Imad Wasim said.

“It goes without saying that he [Babar] he is the captain of the Pakistani team, and I was more of a player. This mutual respect between us has always been there, and it still is. And when you play for the country, you are forced to leave all these things behind.” added.

The spin bowling all-rounder spoke about his photo with Babar on a plane during the New Zealand series and said the memory will be treasured for years to come.
“This is all part of the enjoyment because in the future, after 15 to 20 years, we will smile or laugh after looking at these photos about what we have done and what we have achieved.

“So these memories are endless. Most importantly, love one another; this is what we call enjoyment.” Wasim concluded.
Imad Wasim returned to the national team following his bat-and-ball success in PSL 8. The 34-year-old was the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 404 runs in 10 innings at an average of 134.67. He collected nine wickets in 10 innings at an average of 28.22, with best figures of 3/16.
