Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsman Jitesh Sharma shared his excitement about sharing the stage with other Indian athletes at the upcoming Asian Games 2023. He said he wants to meet his idol Neeraj Chopra and talk to him about his mindset.

jitesh sharma he was one of the youngsters who received his first call-up for the Indian team in the squad for the 2023 Asian Games, which will be played in China from September 23 to October 8. For the first time, the Indian men’s team will participate in the competition.

Jitesh Sharma, who has been one of the most exciting batsmen in the past two IPL seasons, was expected to be a part of the West Indies T20 squad but unfortunately, his name did not appear. However, fate had something different in store for him, as he managed to make the team for the continental tournament.

Jitesh Sharma expressed his excitement to meet Neeraj Chopra, explaining that it is a difficult task to play solo and that he will try to take his idol with him.

Speaking to Indian Express, he explained: “I want to meet Neeraj Chopra. He is an idol. He has won an Olympic gold, I don’t think anything can top that. I want to meet him and I will try to talk about his mentality.Playing individual sports is a difficult task. In cricket, you are always surrounded by ten people; you always get that moral support. But in an individual sport, you’re on your own.”

Asian Games: “It will be a very good experience to be in the games village with other athletes” – Jitesh Sharma

Jitesh Sharma further stressed that it will be a great opportunity for him to learn the routines of other athletes because as a cricketer, they cannot share the stage with other athletes.

“It will be a very good experience to be in the games village with other athletes, have breakfast with them and train with them in the gym. Understand their routine and how they entered your business. In cricket tournaments, you can’t have those experiences. It will be an experience that will change my life.” He explained.

It remains to be seen if Jitesh Sharma makes his debut for the Indian team at the Asian games or sooner. The batsman could be seen in the Ireland team.
