England pacer Jofra Archer spoke openly about his emotions when he became a victim of fans criticizing his injury. Jofra Archer said that he used to ignore fans, but their constant hateful comments made her cry.

Jofra Archer was sidelined for almost three years due to his elbow injury. He too was in and out of the team many times before finally making his permanent return for England in the 2024 ICC ODI World Cup.

Jofra Archer is part of the England team at the World Cup. She played a major role in leading England to victory in the ODI World Cup in 2019. However, due to her elbow injury in March 2021, she was unable to properly return to the team.

I had a little water in my eye and it wasn’t rain: Jofra Archer on fan trolling

During a chat with BBC journalists, Jofra Archer reflected on his emotions during the days of injury. She said that she became too emotional after hearing some comments even though she tried to ignore them.

“I’ve seen some comments, people saying it’s the longest paid vacation I’ve ever seen. You try not to let it get to you, but you can ignore 100 of them, but sometimes that 101 is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. A Sometimes you feel like a burden for not playing,” said the right-arm pacer.

Jofra Archer also added that some comments even made her cry. She also revealed that she once felt that she would lose her contract with the England team.

“It was very, very emotional. I had some water in my eye and it wasn’t rain. I made a joke to Keysy. [ECB Managing Director Rob Key] I said before that I am very happy to play again because I think I would have lost my contract in October. He laughed and said: ‘No, you’re fine,’ the English sprinter added.

Jofra Archer is one of the deadliest pacers in international cricket. However, he has spent a lot of time off the field for a long time and is aiming for a powerful comeback in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Archer played the first game against Scotland

Notably, Archer missed some crucial tournaments like the T20 World Cup 2022, ODI World Cup 2023 and even Ashes 2023 last year. He was part of England’s recent T20I match against Scotland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

However, he bowled only 2 overs as the match was called off due to rain after 10 overs in the first innings. Now, Archer would aim to put up a surprising show against Australia in the next match. England will face Australia on Saturday, June 8 at the Kensington Oval Stadium in Bridgetown, Barbados.

England and Australia are members of Group B. Scotland, Namibia and Oman are the other three teams in the same group. Jos Buttler-led England are the defending champions of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
