AUS vs WI Head to Head Records in ODIs: Third ODI, 2024

The third and final ODI of AUS vs WI will be played on Tuesday, February 6. The match begins at 9 am IST with the series already won. Australia won the first ODI by 8 wickets and the second by 83 runs.

West Indies are currently touring the West Indies. They drew a Test series and more importantly won a Test match in Australia for the first time since 1997. However, they failed to maintain the momentum in the ODI series.

A combined batting effort from Australia took them to a competitive 258/9. Australia, led by Steve Smith, scored 91/5 in the 17th over and thereafter scored almost 260. Sean Abbott, batting for eight, scored 69 off 63 balls and played a major role in taking his team closer to 260. Matthew Short ( 41), Aaron Hardie (26), Marnus Labuschagne (26) played their part.

The chasing West Indies were bowled out for 175. Kaecy Cary top-scored with 40 and six Windies batsmen scored in single figures. Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott got three wickets each. Will Sutherland took two wickets as Australia recorded a dominant victory.

They are more likely to complete a clean sweep given that they have been playing very dominant cricket throughout the series so far and are keen to finish on top. Australia is ranked second in the ICC ODI rankings, while West Indies are ranked 10th.

There is a visible difference between the experiences of both parties. The two teams have played 148 ODIs with the Australians winning 78 matches and the West Indies 61. In 19 T20Is, Australia won 9 games while the West Indies 10.

Steve Smith leads Australia in the absence of Pat Cummins in the AUS vs WI series. Shai Hope is the captain of the West Indies. The previous Test series between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw. Both teams lack key players and consist of a few uncapped members. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have taken a break from the series and David Warner has just retired.

The West Indies are without players like Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell and one Sunil Narine who last played an ODI for the West Indies in 2016. He last played for the West Indies in 2019.
