He has won his hate call after a strong performance on the Western Indies tour.

Australia has announced its squadrons for the next White Ball series against South Africa, which includes three T20 and three hate in August.

They go to the series after a dominant tour of the Western Indies, where they beat the hosts 5-0 in the T20IS. With that success, Australia has made some notable changes in his team for the South Africa series.

Mitchell Owen wins the hate maiden

Mitchell Owen, the 23 -year -old all -terrain, has earned his single -minded hate convention after a strong performance on the Western Indies tour. It appeared in the five T20i, scoring 125 races in four tickets. He hit a 192.30 strike rate and an average of 41.66.

Owen had a season at Big Bash League scoring two centuries and helping Hobart Hurricanes to win his single title. Since then, he has been in demand in several T20 leagues such as SA20, PSL, IPL and MLC. He was appointed tournament player in Major League Cricket 2025. Now he is part of the Odi and T20i squads for the South Africa series.

Matthew Kuhnemann, who made his debut in T20i against the Western Indies in early June, has been selected for the T20i series against South Africa. Nathan Ellis has been included in the T20I and Odi squads.

“Mitch Owen and Matt Kuhnemann doing their respective debuts and the preparation and work done by Nathan Ellis to allow him to play the five games were highlighted,” said Chief selector George Bailey.

Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood return for both formats

Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood are back in both squads after sitting the T20is during the Western Indies tour. Matt Short also returns after that series is lost due to a secondary injury.

There are several notable changes of the team that appeared in the Champions Trophy 2025, where Australia suffered a semifinal defeat against India. Now they are beginning to restructure with one eye in the ODI 2027 World Cup. Steve Smith retired from the fifty -year format earlier this year. Glenn Maxwell, although he continued in T20IS, has also moved away from hate. Marcus Stainis retired from the internationals of a day and has not been named in the T20I team. In addition, players like Jake Fraser-Mcgurk and Tanveer Sangha have not been included in any of the squadrons for the next series.

Mitch Marsh will continue as Odi’s captain with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Star resting.

“The smallest squad for a series at home, along with the return of Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood, see some players who are not part of the team for this series of more part of the end, but all remain in the frame in the future and we feel that the whole group adopted every opportunity,” added George Bailey.
