Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali gave a strange advice to star batsman Babar Azam. Basit Ali, who is a well-known cricket expert today, advised Babar Azam to get married soon if he wants to improve his performance.

Babar is going through the worst moment of his international career. The 29-year-old had a poor Test series against Bangladesh, where he scored just 64 runs in four innings at an average of 16. His poor results hurt Pakistan, who were defeated 2-0 by Bangladesh.

Babar has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny for his disappointing performances by former Pakistan cricketers and pundits. His performance in Test cricket has been particularly disappointing. His last Test fifty came in December 2022 against New Zealand in Karachi.

Basit Ali advises Babar Azam to get married

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali asked Babar Azam to talk to the parents and get them married.

He believes that Babar will be a different person after marriage and requested Babar’s parents to marry him.

“Babar Azam, talk to your parents and get married. After that, he will be a completely different man. I know how a player feels when he is not playing well. I request Babar’s parents to convince him to get married,” Basit said.

“As an elder brother, I want him to say Shaadi kar le bhai, ab umar zyada ho gayi hai teri (Get married brother, you are old enough now),” he added.

Pakistan’s losing streak continues

Babar Azam’s poor form has coincided with Pakistan’s disappointing performance across all formats of the game.

The Men in Green had a tough time at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they bowed out of the tournament after the group stage and even failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage.

If this was not enough, Pakistan lost a Test series against Bangladesh despite playing at home.

Pakistan has a great record and had not lost a Test match against Bangladesh before this series. But a determined Bangladesh team played their hardest to surprise the home team.

“This is a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket,” said Basit Ali

Meanwhile, Basit Ali also termed this as a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket. He believes that Pakistan has learnt the lesson after losing to Bangladesh, which will benefit them in the future.

“This is a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket. They cannot go lower than this. Now, it is time to wake up and open their eyes. If they still don’t open their eyes after losing to Bangladesh, then play the Test series only against Nepal and Afghanistan. Pakistan has learnt a lesson and it will benefit them,” the former Pakistani batsman said.

Pakistan will now face England in a three-match Test series next month. The series will be important for their chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final next year.

The Men in Green are likely to face a tough test against a strong England side that is currently in good form.

The last time England travelled to Pakistan, they beat them 3-0. Pakistan will be hoping that their star batsman Babar regains his form quickly, which may help improve their chances against England.
