In what has been the latest development, Bangladeshi batsman Tamim Iqbal has taken a U-turn and withdrawn his retirement after an intervention by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday (July 7).
Tamim Iqbal was invited by PM and he along with his wife, former captain Mashrafe Mortaza and BCB chief Nazmul Hassan had a talk related to his future. Sheikh Hasina convinced him to retire again.

Tamim shook up the entire cricketing fraternity when he announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday (July 7). His decision surprised many because it came during the ongoing series against Afghanistan. He also collapsed when announcing his decision.

BAN vs AFG: “This is the end for me”, Tamim Iqbal on his retirement
Tamim Iqbal organized a press conference and just three months before the ICC World Cup he said that this is the end for him. Speaking of his decision to withdraw from it, he said:
“This is the end for me. I have given my best. I have done my best. I am retiring from international cricket as of this moment. I want to thank all of my teammates, coaches, BCB officials, family members, and those who have been with me throughout my long journey. They kept faith in me.”
After Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Litton Das as captain. But now that he’s back, it remains to be seen what decision management will make.
Tamim Iqbal has so far played 70 Tests amassing 5134 runs including 10 centuries while he has amassed 8313 runs in 241 games in ODIs including 14 centuries.
