BCCI approves impact player rule at Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Aside from the Asian Games, BCCI also discussed the impact player rule in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and had a positive response. The governing body has approved the rule as it was in the IPL in the domestic tournament.

The impact player rule was introduced into the tournament last year, but it went into effect only after the 14th and had to be named in the draw. But in IPL it was different as teams had to name four players in the draw and then go for any one at any stage of the game. Based on how it was used in IPL, it will be used in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which will start on October 16.
