Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant might have hugged each other at the toss ahead of their team’s IPL 2026 clash on Sunday, April 12 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, but there seems to be nothing good going on between the two.
Actually, Shubman Gill’s little activity on social media has become a big topic of conversation among fans, leaving them wondering if everything is fine between him and Rishabh Pant.

It all started when Shubman Gill was seen liking a reel that mentioned Rishabh Pant in a negative way. That one like was enough for fans to jump to conclusions, and soon the Internet was filled with discussions about a possible problem between the two.

After Gujarat Titans’ seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Gill liked a reel that mentioned Pant in a mocking manner. The clip was from Pant’s early days with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). It was the time of one of Delhi’s clashes with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2018.
In this viral clip, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was seen coming out of his run while Pant was ready to hit the ball. Both laughed at the SRH seamer’s decision, but the left-hander then smashed him for a big six. Later, the Delhi keeper-batsman showed tashan to Bhuvneshwar.

The Instagram user captioned this video, “We failed to promote this chapari version of Rishabh Pant,” and it is now claimed that Gill liked this post on social media. That like was enough to cause major drama as many fans have been wondering if there is a rift between Gill and Pant.
Old Pant-Gill incidents resurface
Soon after, fans began digging up past moments. One such moment was in an IPL match where Gill brushed past Pant during the handshake last year. Some felt the GT captain ignored it, while others said it was just a normal reaction after a loss and nothing serious.
Even on the tour of England last year, Gill seemed a little frustrated when Pant got out while playing an attacking shot. Although these types of reactions are common in high-pressure matches. There was also a mix-up in another game, which created a bit of noise back then.

Jos Buttler (60) and Shubman Gill (56) built a strong 84-run stand to help GT chase the target easily.
