Semifinal 2 of the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 between Australia and Pakistan went to the limit and made many nail-biters. It was a low-scoring thriller in which both teams fought until the end, but in the end, the Australians took the game by the slimmest of margins.

Australia won the toss and opted to play first. They were magnificent with the ball and defeated Pakistan by just 179 runs. Tom Straker was the main reason behind the massacre with the ball as he picked 6 wickets while apart from Harjas Singh, all other players contributed.

For Pakistan, Azan Awais (52) and Arafat Minhas (52) were the batsmen who reached the half-century, while all other batsmen failed. Apart from the duo, no other batsman could surpass the 20-run mark as Pakistan finished with just 179 runs.

Australia in the chase got off to a decent start when Harry Dixon (50) scored a top half-century to give his team a good start. But at the other end, they kept losing wickets on regular wickets and were under pressure.

Oliver Peake (49) and Tom Campbell (25) kept Australia in the game, but Pakistan’s Ali Raza brought his team back into the game. Australia were reduced to 164/9 and both teams were under pressure. With 3 runs needed in the last over, Raf MacMillian (19*) held his nerve and took his team home with one wicket remaining. The ball came off the inside edge and raced towards the boundary to book Australia’s place in the final against India.
