Sri Lankan batsman Chamari Athapaththu entered the record books when she became the first Sri Lankan batsman to reach the No. 1 ranking in the ICC ODI rankings. She accomplished the feat after her sensational performance in the WODI series against New Zealand.

Chamari Athapaththu started the three match series against New Zealand on an unbeaten 108 runs. The second game was a disappointment for her as she bagged a golden duck. But she was on top again in the third game.

West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor climbs to No. 9 in ICC ODI rankings

In addition to Chamari Athapaththu, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine also jumped six places to reach 13th place on the ODI batsmen’s list. The Kiwi captain racked up 194 runs in the three games and achieved significant promotion.

In terms of bowling rankings, West Indies Stafanie Taylor moved up to ninth after her heroics in the series against Ireland. Gaby Lewis also made a significant increase by moving up 5 places to reach 21st place.
