Chennai Super Kings are back in IPL 2024. After facing two consecutive defeats, they made a strong comeback and ensured that they get back to the winning ways. They were top-notch with bat and ball as they achieved their third victory of the tournament.
Opting to bowl first, Chennai Super Kings produced a magnificent effort with the ball. After giving up 56 runs on the power play, they turned things around incredibly well. Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets in an instant to put Kolkata Knight Riders under immense pressure on their ground.
No Kolkata Knight Riders batsman could surpass the 35-run mark, with Shreyas Iyer being the top scorer with 34 runs. Tushar Deshpande also bagged three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman picked up two scalps and Mahesh Theekshana also contributed a wicket as they restricted the opposition to 137/9.
With the bat, it was captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played a vital innings for his team. The first batsman took the bat for him and scored his first half-century of the season. He finished with an unbeaten innings of 67 to take his team home to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Daryl Mitchell (25) and Shivam Dube (28) played a crucial role as Chennai Super Kings chased down the target with ease. They won the game with 7 wickets in hand and also had 14 balls to spare in the game.
