CSK files complaint over DJ song incident at stadium
According to a report by The Indian Express, Chennai Super Kings expressed concern after a stadium DJ played the song “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney” during their recent match.
The song, created by Gana Appu, is often used in social media memes linked to South Indian stereotypes. CSK considered the timing and context in which the song was played during the match to be inappropriate.
An IPL official confirmed that the governing council has received the complaint and is reviewing the matter. The franchise took the issue seriously and stated that he crossed acceptable boundaries in a professional game environment.
The song had earlier gone viral when Jitesh Sharma was seen singing it, leading to trolling from CSK fans. At that time, CSK intervened to ensure that such comments were not directed at the opposition players.
Kasi Viswanathan criticizes unprofessional conduct
Chennai Super Kings general manager Kasi Viswanathan criticized the unprofessional conduct displayed by the stadium entertainer. Viswanathan expressed great disappointment at the nature of the stadium-specific comments.
“DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy stadium it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Keeping that in mind, we have written to the BCCI to look into it,” he said.
“After that incident, it didn’t happen again. The DJ is not supposed to comment on opposing players. Also, we are lucky to have a lovely fan base that supports us in large numbers,” he added.
