Yash Thakur, Shivam Dube

Yash Thakur was at the receiving end of a brilliant power show by Shivam Dube during the game between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (April 23).

LSG captain KL Rahul handed the ball to Thakur for the 16th over with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube well placed batting in the middle. The right-arm pacer had played well till then. In his first two overs, he had given away just 12 runs besides taking the crucial wicket of Daryl Mitchell.

He also started the over on a good note by conceding a single to Gaikwad. Yash Thakur, however, was taken to the cleaners by Dube. The in-form left-handed batsman hit the LSG pacer for three sixes in a row. The second ball of the over was on the pads and Dube flicked it towards mid-wicket for a six.

The third ball was a slower pitch and Dube picked it up quickly before hitting another six at mid-wicket. After conceding two sixes in a row, Yash Thakur probably tried something different and ended up losing his footing.

He fell awkwardly after throwing the ball, as he probably tried to put more force into the delivery to avoid receiving it for another six. However, he didn’t make any difference as Dube also hit that delivery for a six. Fortunately, Yash Thakur did not suffer any injury due to the fall and completed the over from him. He bowled two dot balls to complete the over.

Talking about the game, CSK finished their innings on 210 for 4 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front and scored an unbeaten century, becoming the first CSK captain to score an IPL ton. Dube, on the other hand, scored 66 runs off just 27 balls.
