Lucknow Super Giants have signed former England pacer David Willey at his base price of Rs 2 crore in the ongoing IPL auction 2024. David Willey recently impressed in the World Cup where he was one of the few positives in an otherwise dismal campaign for England. .

The left-arm pacer finished the competition as England’s second highest wicket-taker despite playing only 6 of the 9 league matches. In those 6 games, he picked up 11 wickets, including a three-wicket haul against hosts India.

During the World Cup, he also announced his retirement from international cricket after failing to secure a central contract from the ECB. David Willey has played three seasons of IPL so far. His journey began in 2018 when Chennai Super Kings signed him as an injury replacement for Kedhar Jadhav.

While he did not play any matches in IPL 2019, 2020 and 2021, he returned to action in 2022 with Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the last two seasons he has plied his trade in the Bengaluru team and has played 8 matches.
