DC vs LSG: Jake Fraser-McGurk reveals his most memorable six in IPL 2024 (Watch video)

Delhi Capitals (DC) young opening batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk has revealed his most memorable six in the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Jake Fraser-McGurk stated that his six against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) leg-spinner Mayank Markande left a lasting impression on him.

Jake Fraser-McGurk is at his best for the Rishabh Pant-led team in the prestigious tournament. The right-handed batsman scored 330 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 41.25 and a strike rate of 237.41, including four fifties. Notably, he missed the first five matches of IPL 2024.

Delhi Capitals will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final match of the league phase at their Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 14. Fraser-McGurk hopes to end the ongoing tournament with a stunning knock in the do-or-die game for the Capitals.

It was against a leg spinner – Jake Fraser-McGurk

In a video shared by The Grade Cricketer on X (formerly known as Twitter), Jake Fraser-McGurk picked his six against Mayank Markande as his most memorable IPL six. Fraser-McGurk stated that he played off the back foot when the bowler threw him completely.

“What are the six you’ve scored so far in this tournament that you’re thinking about in the shower every morning?” the host asks.

“It was against a leg-spinner against SunRisers Hyderabad. He bowled it like it was full and I played it from the back stool and hit it at mid-on. I didn’t mean anything by it.” Jake Fraser-McGurk said.

During the match against SunRisers Hyderabad, Fraser-McGurk scored 65 runs off 18 balls at a strike rate of 361.11, which included seven sixes and five boundaries. The right-handed batsman was dismissed by Mayank Markande when he was caught by wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen.

The rate at which Jake Fraser-McGurk scores runs is impressive – Brett Lee

Brett Lee praised Jake Fraser-McGurk for his impressive scoring rate and highlighted his ability to score from the first ball. Lee also highlighted the unfortunate burnout incident in a previous game, which affected their chances of winning against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

“The rate at which he scores runs is impressive. A six off the first ball he faced today. There are times when it comes down to luck. If you think about the previous game, Shai Hope was run out exactly the same way. It’s “It’s a strange way to go out and unfortunately it really affected Delhi Capitals’ chase because he is the only guy who could have got that total.” Brett Lee said at Jio Cinema.

Fraser-McGurk was out on the non-striker’s side off Yash Dayal’s bowling. The 22-year-old scored 21 runs off eight balls when Dayal deflected the ball towards the stumps at the non-striker’s end. DC struggled to maintain the momentum and were eventually bowled out for 140 in the 188-run chase.
