All eyes were on KL Rahul as he came out to bat in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The reason was the controversy that arose after LSG’s previous match in the current IPL 2024.
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had shocked the cricket world by publicly scolding KL Rahul following the team’s humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. After LSG finished their innings with 165, SRH chased down the total in just 9.4 overs without losing any wicket.
After the match, Goenka was caught on camera having a lively discussion with the LSG captain. While the details of the discussion are unknown, Goenka’s expression made it clear that he was not at all happy with the way things unfolded on the field.
Unsurprisingly, many believed that KL Rahul would have something to prove when he came out to bat against DC. However, the LSG skipper failed to get going and was out for just 5 runs. He ended up missing a delivery from Ishant Sharma before Mukesh Kumar took a good catch.
The cameras then caught Goenka giving an interesting reaction. As soon as Rahul was dismissed, the cameras turned towards Goenka, who was sitting in the stands. The LSG owner had a slight smile on his face as Rahul walked off the field.

Earlier this week, LSG assistant coach Lance Klusener downplayed the incident, saying: “I don’t see any problem with a solid discussion between two cricket lovers. I don’t see any problem with that. For us, I guess, it’s just a storm in a teacup. We love a solid discussion, I think that’s how cricket improves.” teams. So, it’s not a big deal for us.
Talking about Rahul’s performance in the ongoing IPL 2024, he is LSG’s leading run-scorer this season. In 13 matches so far, he has scored 465 runs with the help of three half-centuries.
