Did Mumbai disappoint Hardik Pandya? Star all-rounder gives his verdict on India’s victory parade

India vice-captain Hardik Pandya spoke about Team India’s victory parade in Mumbai after the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. He said that seeing people’s hearts filled with joy and happiness was the greatest joy for him.

On June 29, the Indian national cricket team made history by becoming only the third team in history to win two T20 World Cup titles. They defeated South Africa in the final of the 2024 edition to win their first ICC title since 2013.

India played a dominant style of cricket during the 2024 T20 World Cup. They won all the matches in the tournament and ensured that they won the tournament undefeated, becoming the first team to achieve the feat.

One of the main reasons behind Team India’s victory was all-rounder Hardik Pandya. India’s vice-captain was impeccable with his batting and bowling throughout the tournament and made vital contributions, scoring 144 runs and also taking 11 wickets.

After India returned home after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, they had a victory parade in Mumbai. The entire city was on the streets while at Marine Drive thousands of people celebrated with the Indian team and then there was a players’ felicitation at the Wankhede Stadium.

Hardik Pandya, who participated in the victory parade, spoke about the celebrations on the streets of Mumbai. He recalled how he celebrated India’s victory in 2011 on the streets and ten years later, he is part of the team that won.

Hardik Pandya further stated that playing for India is the most important thing for him and winning the World Cup is something he will remember for the rest of his life. In a video released by BCCI, he said:

“There will be some cool and cool images coming out. The iconic character will be there.”

“I must be on the roads because in 2011 I was on a road. I was doing the same thing, celebrating the same teams where they came from and yes, for me it is more surreal that after 13 years, the next trophy that we got and I celebrated is that I am part of that team and it is Mumbai for me, finally, where my journey started and yes, this will be more special coming back home with the trophy.

“And it is the hearts of so many people that are filled with joy and happiness. I don’t think there is a greater pleasure or blessing than this. For me, playing for the country itself would have been a dream, a blessing and so much more, but I have been fortunate to be a part of something so incredible that I will remember for the rest of my life and, at the same time, all of us who are part of this group.”

Mumbai did not disappoint. Mumbai was the best – Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya, speaking about Team India’s victory parade, said that giving happiness to people is something they worked hard for. He added that the Mumbai crowd did not disappoint them.

“That’s why we worked hard. We worked hard to be in this kind of situation and this kind of environment that we can create and this kind of happiness that we can bring. I couldn’t be happier than to be done with all the formalities and all the celebrations in Mumbai. Mumbai did not disappoint.” Mumbai was the best. Amchi Mumbai. Jai Hind.”
