In what has been the latest development as per ESPNCricinfo reports, it has emerged that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has asked Jofra Archer not to register for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction. The reports added that the body rector is looking to manage his workload before the T20 World Cup 2024.

Jofra Archer was released from the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. He, however, did not register for the auction and this could be the reason why the five-time champions did not retain him. 32 England players have registered for the auction.

Jofra Archer recently signed a two-year contract with the ECB and they did not want him to get injured again, so they did not let him enter the auction. The governing body believes they will better manage her workload if she is in England during April and May.

Jofra Archer played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. He played a few matches before traveling to Belgium for a minor operation after experiencing pain in his elbow. He came back and played a few more games before re-injuring his elbow.

England are hopeful that Jofra Archer will be fit for the T20 World Cup 2024. The fast bowler is scheduled to train with the team in Barbados next week. He will not take part in either the ODI or T20I series against the West Indies, but he will practice with the team.

Harry Brook, Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes register for IPL 2024 auction

Reports from ESPNCricinfo also suggested that England’s T20I players have registered for the auction. Harry Brook, Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes entered the auction. Ben Stokes and Joe Root have opted out and will not appear in the league.

Eight English players (Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Jason Roy, Mark Wood, Will Jacks and Reece Topley) were retained by their respective IPL franchises. IPL 2024 will be a great preparation for them for the T20 World Cup 2024.
