With Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinching their first title after a long wait of 16 years, Virat Kohli made sure to celebrate in style. The former India captain is the only player associated with the franchise since its inception in 2008.

With the RCB men’s team, Virat Kohli played in three IPL finals but could not finish even once on the winning side. The Bengaluru-based team’s long wait for the title finally came to an end on Sunday (March 17) when they defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the WPL 2024 final.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals were bowled out for just 113 runs in the 19th over. At one point, they were comfortably sitting on 64 unbeaten and looked set to post a big total. However, Sophie Molineux completely changed the course of the game by taking three wickets in one to reduce DC to 64 for 3. Shreyanka Patil then claimed four wickets to help RCB bowl out DC for a modest total.

Ellyse Perry and Virat Kohli share a special moment:

Chasing 113, RCB crossed the finish line with three balls remaining. Openers Smriti Mandhana (31) and Sophie Devine (32) made useful contributions before Ellyse Perry (35*) and Richa Ghosh (17*) sealed the game. And as soon as Richa hit the winning four in the final over, Virat Kohli joined the celebrations via video call.

The video of the moment has already gone viral on social media and many praised the Indian superstar for his touching gesture. And now another special moment has emerged from the video call involving Virat Kohli and Perry. During the video call, Perry gave an epic reaction when she was heard saying, “V for Virat!”

Talking about Perry, he starred with both bat and ball for RCB in WPL 2024. In the last league match, he took 6 wickets for 15 runs and scored an unbeaten 40 to help RCB defeat defending champions Mumbai Indians and qualify for the playoffs. In the playoffs, he scored 66 and took one wicket against the same team before top-scoring for RCB in the final.

As far as Virat Kohli is concerned, he will return to action in IPL 2024 after missing action for over a month.
