England are all set to try and win the series when they take on Sri Lanka in their next match of the ongoing Test series. The second ENG vs SL 2024 Test match will be held on Thursday, August 29.
The venue for the match will be Lord’s in London and the English will be looking for a show similar to the last match to steal the series.
Ahead of the second ENG vs SL test, here’s a look at England’s predicted starting XI for the match.

Daniel Lawrence could also be the opener in the next match as he scored 30 and 34 in both innings in the last match and put up a decent show.
Ben Duckett
Ben Duckett can be the other opener for the team as he scored 18 and 11 runs in the last match. The England opener will be looking for a better performance in the next one.
Ollie Papa (C)
Ollie Pope is the captain of the English team in the series and will look to lead the team to a series win in the upcoming game. He was bowled out for 6 in both innings.

Joe Root is the biggest fruit of the English team and has been a fruitful member over the last few years. He hit 42 and 62* in both innings.
Harry Brook
Harry Brook hit a wonderful half-century in the last game and the team will not risk benching him in the next match as he is a powerful middle-order batsman.
Jamie Smith (WK)
Jamie Smith stunned the Sri Lankan bowlers with his batting display by scoring a match-changing century of 111 runs. He will therefore keep the stumps in the next game as well.
