Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Maheesh Theekshana lavished high praise on captain MS Dhoni ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that the wicketkeeper-batsman gives the player immense confidence by showing faith in every bowler.
Three Wise Men of Chennai (CSK) Captain MS Dhoni is arguably one of the best captains to ever play the game. The way he educates his players is one of the highlights of his leadership and this is how he brings out the best in his players and guides them to excel in their respective fields.
MS Dhoni has guided Chennai Super Kings to five titles in the IPL and will now look to claim his sixth title. The wicketkeeper-batsman will potentially play his last season in the league this year as he himself mentioned that he will give a gift to the fans by striving for one more season.
Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana is one of the players who has developed under MS Dhoni. The keeper-batsman has shown great confidence in the spinner and has used it to the best of his ability, relying on it to bowl both in the powerplay and the new ball.
Maheesh Theekshana said that playing with MS Dhoni is a privilege as he shows confidence in every player. He noted how the captain shows confidence in his players. Speaking to Cricket.com, he stated:
“Playing with MS Dhoni is a privilege; he has faith in every bowler; we are also gaining confidence even if we go for a run; he gives us the ball later in the innings and backs us; that is huge confidence.”
He can play another 2-3 seasons – Deepak Chahar on MS Dhoni
CSK pacer Deepak Chahar also recently spoke about MS Dhoni and said that the wicketkeeper-batsman can play for 2-3 seasons. The fast bowler also provided an update on the keeper-batsman’s injury, saying that he has made a full recovery.
He also admitted that it will be difficult for Chennai Super Kings to play without MS Dhoni in the IPL. Talking to PTI about the same, he explained:
“I think he has a lot to contribute to cricket. He can play another 2-3 seasons. I have seen him bat in the nets. Obviously he had an injury that anyone can have, 24-year-old people have the same injury as him.”
He has recovered well. For me personally, I should play another 2 or 3 years. But it’s his decision. He told everyone that he was going to play his last match in Chennai. I think he alone will decide. It will be very difficult for us to play for CSK without him. “Everyone has (always) seen CSK with Mahi bhai.”
MS Dhoni has started his preparations for IPL 2024. He was seen batting in the nets and would hope to get another title under his belt. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar will also return to the IPL. He recently took a break from cricket after his father fell ill.
