Indian national cricket team batsman Virat Kohli has opened up about the prank his teammates played on him when he met Sachin Tendulkar for the first time. He said players on his team told him he needed to touch his feet to hit well, as it is a ritual on a team.
After working hard in the domestic circuit, Virat Kohli made it to the Indian team in 2008. At that time, no one knew that he would carry on Sachin Tendulkar’s legacy. The batsman took world cricket by storm in all three formats of the game and is now the leading batsman in cricket.

Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar also shared excellent partnerships for India in white and red ball cricket. But when they were part of the team for the first time, an interesting story unfolded when some of the senior players in the team played a prank on Kohli.
The team members Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Munaf Patel played a funny prank on him. The senior players asked the batsman to go and touch Sachin Tendulkar’s feet, to which he also agreed and proceeded to do what the senior players asked.

Kohli, while talking about the same incident, revealed that Sachin Tendulkar was not involved in the incident, and when he hit the ground, the great batsman walked away and asked him what he was doing. Speaking during an event, he explained:
“No, he (Sachin) was not involved. And I think in that series we were playing in England, if I’m not mistaken, in India before the Taj incident. That was in 2008, right? He had played for India before, but Sachin Paaji was not on tour in Sri Lanka. Coincidentally, he took a break and I had the opportunity to be a member of the team.
“And the only thing I expected from the next series was to play with him. Then the first time I met him, this happened and I fell at his feet. I said, ‘Man, I have to do this,’ and he was backing away. He said , what are you doing? I couldn’t even tell him, I said, Paji, they told me I have to do this.

Virat Kohli further revealed that when Sachin Tendulkar found out that the senior players had played a prank on him, he scolded them. He revealed that it was Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Munaf Patel who caught him. He elaborated:
“So, I’m doing it. And then he gave all these guys a bit. I think Irfan Bhai was there, involved in it. Bhajju Pa, Yuvi Paaji and of course Munaf Patel. He used to be the one cheering from behind .With his unique voice, everyone got me.”

Kohli and Tendulkar were part of the Indian team for the ICC World Cup 2011. Both played a vital role for the team and helped them lift the tournament.
