Greg Chappell praises Travis Head’s ‘fearless approach’ against Jasprit Bumrah

While writing for his column in the Sydney Morning Herald, Greg Chappell revealed the reason why Travis Head succeeded against Jasprit Bumrah when the other batsmen struggled. Chappell claimed that Head has treated Bumrah like any other bowler and bowled him with intent, which has also disrupted Bumrah’s pace.

“(Travis) Head’s performances against Jasprit Bumrah in this series exemplify his fearless approach. While most batsmen struggle to survive Bumrah’s unorthodox action, fast pace and relentless precision, Head has treated him like any other bowler,” Chappell wrote.

“By playing with intent and looking to score on Bumrah, Head not only nullified his threat but disrupted his rhythm. His ability to play short deliveries with authority and deliver fuller deliveries with precision has been remarkable, underlining the strides he has made “. he added.

Praising Travis Head further, Greg Chappell even called for him to be the next Australian captain after Pat Cummins. He called Head the most improved batsman across all formats in the last three years and even claimed that his aggressive style reflects the Australian style.

“I think Travis (Head) is the most improved batsman in world cricket in the last three years and in doing so, he has reaffirmed his favoritism to be the next Australian captain. As it stands, Travis exemplifies the Australian way of batting,” said the former India head coach.
