The Nagpur city police on Wednesday executed a non-bailable arrest warrant against former Indian cricketer Prashant Vaidya, according to PTI. The order has been executed in a bad check case. Vaidya has played a total of four ODI matches for Indian cricket in the mid-1990s. According to a police officer, Vaidya was produced before the court and later released on bail.

According to inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput of Bajajnagar police station, Prashant Vaidya He had purchased steel from a local merchant and had given him a check that was later rejected. The cricketer refused to pay the amount to the merchant and in return he went to court. In return, the court issued a non-bailable order against Vaidya for missing hearings in the case. Vaidya is currently the head of the cricket development committee of the vidarbha Cricket Association.

Vitthalsingh Rajput said in a statement: “Vaidya had allegedly purchased steel from a local trader and issued a check which was dishonored, following which the trader demanded fresh payment. The cricketer reportedly refused to pay. That is why the businessman went to court. A non-bail order was issued against him for failing to attend the court hearing.”

Prashant Vaidya was also part of the Indian cricket team that won the Asia Cup in 1995. Vaidya made his international debut against Australia in February 1995. He picked up one wicket in that match and removed Australian batsman David Boon. He also played international matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan and South Africa.

In a total of four ODI matches of his ODI career, Prashant Vaidya took four wickets and scored 15 runs. Prashant Vaidya also played 56 first-class and 41 List A matches during which he scored 1038 and 116 runs respectively, followed by 171 and 46 wickets.

Prashant Vaidya is also alleged to be part of several bank frauds. According to an Indian media outlet, a fraud case was filed at Panchpavli police station in February 2019 against Prashant Vaidya, his brother Prafull and his sister-in-law Varsha. The trio is alleged to have committed a fraud of Rs 2.90 crore with Bank of Baroda. Vaidya was then vice-president of the Vidarbha Cricket Association.

Vidarbha is currently on the top spot in Elite Group A of Ranji Trophy 2023-24. Vidarbha have won 3 out of four matches and are in top form in the current edition of the Ranji Trophy.

In the current Indian setup, Jitesh Sharma is a very prominent name playing for the Vidarbha Indian cricket team. Sharma has put up some brilliant performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League, which is why he found a place in the Indian team.

Jitesh Sharma is also among the likely players to play in the T20 World Cup 2024, due to the batting he can do in the order.

Apart from Jitesh Sharma, Umesh Yadav is another notable name to play for India from Vidarbha. CK Nayudu, Hemang Badani, Akshay Wadkar and the team have contributed many brilliant cricketers to the Indian cricket team.
