Batting great Sunil Gavaskar praised Gujarat Titans player Rashid Khan for his heroics in the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that the leg-spinner is a sought after by franchises in the world as he gives everything for the team.

Rashid Khan played a magnificent role for his team in the match against Rajasthan Royals. The Afghan player was at his best in the game and helped his team win the game from the jaws of defeat at the Royals’ stronghold at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Rashid Khan was the first to step forward with the ball for his team when he removed the dangerous Jos Buttler. While all other Gujarat Titans players had an economy of over 9, the player conceded just 18 runs in his four overs and helped his team restrict the opposition to a total of less than 200.

If this was not enough, Rashid Khan played a magnificent innings in the order for his team. When it looked like the Gujarat Titans were down and dusted in the game, the all-rounder produced a magnificent effort with the bat and pulled his team out of the jaws of defeat.

Rashid Khan played a magnificent innings of unbeaten 24 runs and made sure to take his team home. The all-rounder, along with Rahul Tewatia (22), produced a stellar effort and snatched victory for his team from the jaws of defeat to win their third match of the season.

Sunil Gavaskar was in awe of Rashid Khan for his performance in the match against Rajasthan Royals. He pointed out that bowlers hesitate to put in effort on the field due to injuries, but that is not the case with Rashid. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“Yes, he didn’t hit the wickets like he usually does, but when needed with the bat he came and delivered. This is the reason why he is a player so sought after by franchises around the world. They want him because they can see his commitment , with batting, bowling and fielding.

“Look at the way he gives it his all while he’s on the field. Bowlers can sometimes be a little worried about lunging on their bowling shoulder, because if they dislocate their shoulder runs are in danger.”

Sunil Gavaskar further correlated Rashid Khan with Ben Stokes and highlighted how the two cricketing greats give their all on the field. Speaking about the same, he explained:“Not with Rashid Khan, he just wants to give 100%. There is another cricketer who is not playing in this IPL but again similar is Ben Stokes. Every time you see Ben Stokes batting, bowling or fielding, he is 100%, he gives it his all.

“And those are the cricketers that the coaches and captains want, they may not always deliver, but you know the percentage will not be less than 100%.” He concluded.
