Greg Chappell celebrates Rahul Dravid and India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph and shares ‘wonderful way to finish’ message

Former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell has sent a congratulatory message to outgoing India coach Rahul Dravid following the Indian team’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He stated that his passion for the Indian team has always been there.

What he could not do as a player or captain, Rahul Dravid did as a coach as under him the Indian National Cricket Team won the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led team was extremely dominant in the tournament as they won all the games and remained undefeated in the event.

Rahul Dravid, who He was appointed as the head coach of the Indian team after the 2021 T20 World Cup and made sure to end his coaching stint on a high. He faced quite a few disappointments, as under him the team lost the title. 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final and the 2023 ICC World Cup final at home.

Rahul Dravid, who was given an extension as head coach till the 2024 T20 World Cup, completely changed the way the team should play. He, along with captain Rohit Sharma, instilled a fearless attitude in the players and gave them the freedom to express themselves.

Rahul Dravid ensured that during his tenure as coach, India ended their title drought. The Men in Blue last won the ICC trophy in 2013, ending an 11-year wait. They defeated the South African National Cricket Team by 7 runs to win the final and claim the second T20 title, after winning in 2007.

At the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid-led Team India put in a sensational performance with both bat and ball. They became the first team in the history of the tournament to win the event without even losing a single game.

Greg Chappell was pleased with the way Rahul Dravid led the team. He said the coach, along with captain Rohit Sharma, worked hard and said their passion is commendable. He added that it is wonderful that he has finished his stint on a high. Speaking to Mid-Day, he explained:

“Congratulations to India for winning the T20 World Cup. I am particularly happy for Rahul for being part of the victory. Both of them worked closely together throughout the process.

“His passion for Indian cricket has always been evident, so to have been an integral part of planning this victory must be particularly satisfying for him. “It is a wonderful way for him to end his time with the team,” he concluded.
