Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman Shubman Gill spoke about his innings in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Narendra Modi International Stadium. He talked about how he approached his innings and expressed his delight at leading his team to a good total.
Shubman Gill was the hot soup of Qualifier 1 against Mumbai Indians as he batted exceptionally well and played the best innings of IPL 2023. He broke his third century in 11 days and led his team to a strong position in the knockout game .

Shubman Gill, who was trailing Faf du Plessis in the orange cap, overtook the RCB captain and is now the race leader for the season with 851 races to his name. He finished with the hit of 129 runs on 60 balls and batted with a strike rate of 215. His innings included 10 sixes and 7 fours.

Shubman Gill said they are hopeful of defending the goal and expressed delight in bagging the orange cap. Speaking during the mid-entry interview, he said:
“I went to the bathroom and I didn’t know that I would use this [on the Orange cap]. Got a nice total, hopefully we’ll defend it. A lot, sweat was coming into my eyes and I couldn’t open them. We have played our best cricket when we have lost and this is one of those days.”

Shubman Gill said his plan was to take the shorter cap, revealing that the ball stopped moving after two overs. He elaborated”
“It definitely plays a role, you have to know which way to aim, if it’s bigger limits and bowling in good areas, look for doubles, smaller limits look to meet him. The new ball held up a bit, not much grass in that wicket, the ball came in very handy and with wet outfields it stopped swinging after 2 overs. I wish this was possible, I’ll take it everywhere [on this Ahmedabad pitch].”
Shubman Gill’s 129-run innings took the Gujarat Titans to a total of 233 runs on the board.
