Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya gave a pure testament to his batting prowess with a quick knock in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) to help Baroda seal a high-scoring affair against Tamilnadu.

In the process, Pandya decimated Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) new recruit Gurjapneet Singh, hitting him for a whopping 30 runs in a single over. Notably, CSK bought the left-arm pacer for a price of INR 2.2 crore at the event in Jeddah.

Pandya started with a hattrick of six before Gurjapneet bowled a no-ball and Pandya capitalized on the free hit with another maximum. The leading all-rounder then hit a boundary before closing the over with a single.

Pandya eventually scored 69 runs in 30 balls, combined with four 4s and seven 6s.

Talking about the match, Pandya’s explosive knock took Baroda to a three-wicket win in the end.

Baroda, chasing a challenging target of 222, found itself in a fix after reeling at 121 for 4 when Hardik Pandya entered the field following the dismissal of his elder brother Krunal.

The equation was 66 runs needed off 24 balls when Pandya decided to attack Gurjapneet and reduced him to 36 in the last 3 overs.

Although Hardik was run out on the first ball of the final due to a strong direct hit from Vijay Shankar from mid-wicket, his contribution proved crucial as Baroda successfully completed the chase on the last ball of the game.
