Rauf was almost unplayable at times, claiming five Australian wickets in his eight-over spell.

Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf put in a stellar performance, taking a five-wicket haul in the second ODI against Australia at Adelaide Oval.

The 31-year-old pacer, who returned to the national team for the tour of Australia, had taken three wickets in the series opener, which Pakistan lost by 2 wickets while defending 203 in Melbourne on Monday.

In the second ODI on Friday, Rauf was almost unplayable at times, claiming five Australian wickets in his eight-over spell. He saw off Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Aaron Hardie, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins, with a standout performance.

After returning to ODIs after almost a year, Haris Rauf, who has only played one Test match in his career (in 2022), took a remarkable five-wicket haul in the second ODI. In a post-innings interview, Michael Vaughan asked him about the possibility of returning to Test cricket in the future.

Haris mentioned that playing four-day cricket in Pakistan helps his body adapt, so he would consider playing Test cricket for Pakistan again.

Michael Vaughan asked: “Will we see you playing Test cricket in the future?”

“When we play 4-day cricket for Pakistan, my body gets used to 4-day cricket and Test cricket, so why not in future also play Test cricket for Pakistan,” Haris replied.

Opening pair sets up easy chase for Pakistan

Talking about the match, after Haris Rauf’s five-wicket haul, Australia were bowled out for just 163, with Shaheen Afridi also contributing 3 wickets. In their chase, Pakistan got off to a good start as their first teams built a century-old partnership.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are 140-1 after 22 overs, with Abdullah Shafique making 41* and Saim Ayub being dismissed for 82. Pakistan now need just 24 more runs to win.
