Rahul Dravid has revealed some of the qualities of Rohit Sharma that really impressed him. Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma were the coach-captain duo of Team India for the last four years. His mission was to win an ICC title for India.
Though there were many ups and downs for the duo, they finally won an ICC title for the team after a wait of 11 years. India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa by 7 runs in a nail-biting clash. Last time, they lost the ODI World Cup title to Australia on their home soil.
The duo entertained the Indian fans for the last 3-4 years since the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Notably, India faced an elimination in the first round of the tournament and Kohli stepped down from the captaincy. Later he also left the ODI and Test captaincy. As a result, Sharma was appointed as the sole skipper across all formats and there was no better option for the same.

Will miss Rohit Sharma as a person: Rahul Dravid
However, the Rahul Dravid-Rohit Sharma pair will not be seen together in the Indian team now. Rohit Sharma has retired from the T20I format and Rahul Dravid has parted ways with the BCCI as head coach of the Indian team.
However, the two shared a close relationship over the last 4 years as they were the leaders of the team in all three formats. Talking about Rohit Sharma to PTI after India clinched the title, Rahul Dravid said that he will miss him and hopes that they remain friends.
“I’ll miss him as a person. I forget about the cricket and I forget about the captain and everything. I just think… I hope we’re still friends. So I probably won’t miss him,” he said.
Dravid also shared some qualities of Rohit Sharma that impressed him the most, such as the energy he brings.
“But I think what has really impressed me in all this has been the kind of person he is. The kind of respect he has shown me. The kind of care and commitment he has had towards the team. The kind of energy he has had to expend. And he has never looked back,” the former India captain added.

Rohit Sharma is a great captain: Rahul Dravid
Dravid also added that Rohit Sharma is a great captain and he will remember him especially.
“I think he is the person I will remember the most. The way he plays cricket, he will be a great captain, he will be a great player and he will score runs and all that. He will win trophies. But I think what I will remember the most is his personality,” he added.
Notably, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma also clinched the Asia Cup 2023 last year by defeating Sri Lanka in the final by a humiliating margin. Although India did not win the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 last year, they were the most dominant team that won all the league stage matches consistently. Even in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India crushed all the other teams from the very beginning.
