The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is approaching the halfway point. Reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been in good form in the tournament. They are in second position in the table, winning four of six games and losing two. Virat Kohli, the former captain, has been in brilliant form this season.

Virat Kohli has been in good form as he features in the Orange Cap race where he was ranked fourth in the list with 247 runs and an average close to 50. He has scored two fifties in the tournament so far and has taken charge from the first ball of the innings, and has also played as an anchor when required.

Before RCB takes on Gujarat Titans (GT), Venkatesh Iyer shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli during the Round Table Conference.

Venkatesh Iyer said, “First of all, he is a down-to-earth person, he has an aura around him and he never fails to amaze people. And you can consider yourself lucky to be in the same locker room as him.”

“At the same time, it’s also an opportunity to take away as many things as the situations you’ve faced in life. That person has seen it 50 times more than you. They know how to deal with situations, not just with the game, but also with fame, money and family.

“Seeing a complete person like that is nothing but an inspiration. You see him celebrating a wicket, you never see him running on the field, but running. This is one more reason to improve your fitness. To increase your intensity. And be at the top of your game.”

Venkatesh Iyer has just played one match for RCB this season, scoring an impressive 29 runs at a strike rate of 193.33. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder was picked up by the Bengaluru team for INR 7 crore to add versatility and middle-order experience to their team. However, the team’s middle order has not failed yet.

RCB looking for comeback

This has been one of the reasons why Venkatesh Iyer has had limited chances in the tournament so far. He will look to get more playing time for the defending champions in the upcoming matches.

RCB lost their last match against Delhi Capitals (DC). They will look for a comeback in their last home match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After this, they will play the remaining home matches in Raipur against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB wants to give a good farewell to its home fans for this season.
