Indian national cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The batsman made the announcement on Saturday (June 1) via a social media post and reflected on his journey.

Dinesh Karthik called time on his career after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 17th edition of the tournament and now the wicketkeeper-batsman has made the official announcement of his retirement from domestic and international cricket. .

Dinesh Karthik thanked all the fans for their support throughout his career. He said he was lucky to represent his country and also extended his support to his family, as well as his fans and all those who stood by him through thick and thin. Posting on Instagram, he said:

“I have been overwhelmed by the care, support and love I have received in recent days. My deepest gratitude and sincere gratitude to all the fans who have made this feeling possible. After giving it a lot of thought for some time, I have decided to stop playing representative cricket.

“I am officially announcing my retirement and leaving my playing days behind as I prepare for the new challenges ahead.

“I would like to thank all my coaches, captains, selectors, teammates and support staff members who have made this long journey enjoyable and enjoyable.

“Among the millions who play this sport in our country, I consider myself one of the lucky few who has had the opportunity to represent the nation, and even luckier to have earned the goodwill of so many fans and friends.

“My parents have been pillars of strength and support all these years and I would not be who I am without their blessings. I also owe a lot to Dipika, a professional athlete who often put her career on hold to accompany me on my journey.
