ICC World Cup 2023: “I Have Got Dhoni’s Number” – Netherlands’ Vikramjit Singh Opens About His No.7 Jersey

Dutch batsman Vikramjit Singh spoke about his number 7 jersey. He said that he gets a lot of feedback about it as many people have told him that they love the No.7 kit because of MS Dhoni.

Vikramjit Singh played a vital role in Holland’s qualification for the 2023 ICC World Cup as he played crucial shots for his team in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. The lefty smashed a brilliant ton against Oman and then followed up with another big shot.

Vikramjit Singh scored 40 runs against Scotland in what was the virtual qualifying game, helping his team book a place for the main tournament in India later this year. As he chased the target of 278 runs, the lefty along with Max O’Dowd got his team off to a great start.

But after that it was all about Bas de Leede, who picked five wickets with the ball earlier. The all-rounder crushed a brilliant 123-run strike and helped his side win the game by 4 wickets and qualify for the main tournament in October-November this year.

In a video posted by ICC, Vikramjit Singh revealed that his favorite number was 10 and he wanted that but had to settle for 7. He also talked about the love he gets from fans for his jersey as MS Dhoni wears the same jersey number. He explained:

“I get a lot of comments about it. That I have Dhoni’s number. Lots of people on social media love the number 7 on the back. Obviously, there are a lot of MS Dhoni fans out there. 10 was my favorite number and unfortunately Timm Van Der Gugten has that number so my next favorite number was seven and that’s the story behind it.”

MS Dhoni also talks about playing next year in IPL

MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, has also been a regular in IPL. But one question that was the hot soup of the IPL was will this be MS Dhoni’s last season in the league? There was a lot of speculation about whether he will play next season or whether it will be his last season in the league, considering his age and fitness.

MS Dhoni, however, ended the talks. Although he is not sure whether he will play again next season or not, he said that if he returns it will be a gift from him to the fans. But he needs to work hard. He said:

“Are you looking for an answer? This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received from everywhere. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the hardest thing would be to work hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, it will not be easy for the body. He concluded.

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to the fifth IPL title in 2023 after they defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final. He scored 104 runs in 12 games in IPL 2023 with a strike rate of 182. They now have the most joint titles with Mumbai Indians in the league.
