Newly appointed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf is set to push for Pakistan World Cup matches to be played at neutral venues at the ICC meetings in Durban. The development was confirmed by the Interprovincial Coordination (Sports), Ahsan Mazari.

Zaka Ashraf and PCB COO Salman Taseer are in Durban to attend the ICC meeting and it was learned that they will raise the issue at the meeting and also discuss India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan for reasons of security.

Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup is one of the hot soups in the cricket world of late. The PCB has mentioned that they will travel to India for the World Cup only after they are given clearance by the government for the event.

But the response from the government has not been very good as they have said that they will not allow the Pakistani team to travel to India because they also did not agree to travel to Pakistan for the Asian Cup. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently set up a high-profile committee to discuss the team’s participation in the World Cup in India.

“Zaka Ashraf will raise the question why Pakistan’s World Cup matches cannot be played at neutral venues when the Indian team cannot travel to Pakistan for the Asian Cup. I want our World Cup matches at neutral venues if India doesn’t want to send its team to Pakistan for the Asian Cup. If they have security issues in Pakistan according to the Indian junta, then we can also question the security situation in India,” Ahsan Mazari was quoted as saying by PTI.
