Sikandar Raza has been in the spotlight since the ICC World Cup Qualifiers began. Whether with bat, ball or field, the all-rounder has set the stage ablaze and played a key role in leading his team to the main tournament in India, starting on October 5.

In Zimbabwe’s recent match against Oman, Sikandar Raza caught the attention of many with his sensational performance on the pitch. The stupendous effort was a game changer for his team and helped bring them one step closer to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Whilst chasing the target of 332 runs, Oman was doing very well with Kashyap Prajapati keeping the fort with his searing century. But something amazing was needed to tip the game and Sikandar Raza did just that. The batter tried to hit the ball but missed in the air.

Sikandar Raza charged on his back from the middle and had his eyes on the ball. He managed to reach the ball and caught it with his fingertips after covering so much ground running back.

ICC World Cup Qualifiers: Zimbabwe win match against Oman by 14 runs

Asked to bat first, skipper Sean Williams once again showed his class and crushed another century. Sikandar Raza also played a vital hand and scored 42 as L Jongwe (43*) finished the innings on top as Zimbabwe recorded a total of 332 runs on the board.

Defending the goal, Zimbabwe continued to intervene with the wickets at regular intervals. They came under pressure when Kashyap Prajapati smashed his pitchers all over the park. Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani each took three wickets, while Richard Ngarva and Sikandar Raza combined to pick three wickets as Zimbabwe restricted Oman to 318 runs.
