Indian batsman Virat Kohli has been electric on the field in the ongoing second T20I against Afghanistan. Holkar Stadium in Indore is hosting the deciding match of the virtual series between the teams. The hosts won the toss and opted to field first and did a decent job with the ball.
So far, all the attention has been on Virat Kohli as he has kept the crowd moving and all they do is chant “Kohli Kohli. However, the batsman could have sent fans into a frenzy if he had caught Gulbadin Naib and it could have potentially been the catch of the match.
During the third ball of the ninth over, Shivam Dube bowled a full toss which Gulbadin Naib bowled to long-on. Virat Kohli ran, lunged forward and grabbed both his hands while he was in the air, but the ball did not hit.
The ball did not come but Virat Kohli had a chance. For the kind of effort he put in, it’s fair to say that only he could have put in such an effort. Rohit Sharma acknowledged Kohli’s efforts and applauded him.
Gulbadin Naib did most of the effort as he scored a sensational half-century and ensured he kept his team in the hunt. The batsman smashed the Indian bowlers all over the park and put pressure on them in Indore, which is hosting a series decider.
Gulbadin Naib finished with 57 runs off 35 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 162 and hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. The batsman ensured that his team finished with a fighting total on the board.
After his exit, Najibullah Zadran (23), Karim Janat (20) and Mujeeb ur Rahman (21) made vital cameos in the end that propelled Afghanistan to a total of 172 runs. For India, Arshdeep Singh picked three wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel picked two scalps. The series between the teams is in favor of India as they won the first game by 6 wickets in Punjab. They would hope to seal the series in the game and then give opportunities to the youngsters in the next game.
