South Africa captain Neil Brand broke several records after picking 6 wickets against New Zealand in New Zealand’s first Test against South Africa. The left-arm spinner took a six-wicket haul on his Test debut and stole a string of records in his name.

In the absence of Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram, Neil Brand leads South Africa in NZ vs SA test series. The home team, the Kiwis, were asked to bat first in the match and posted a mammoth total of 511-10 in the first innings.

Additionally, Brand has also teamed up with former South Africa captain. Shaun Pollock to get a six-wicket haul as skipper. Pollock took five hauls against India as captain in November 2001. The best bowling performance on Test debut by a South African player is that of Lance Klusener, who took 8 wickets for 64 runs against India in November 1996.

South Africa get off to a poor start in batting

Meanwhile, Neil Brand failed to lead South Africa to a powerful bowling show against New Zealand. With a double century from Rachin Ravindra (240) and a century from Kane Williamson (118), the Kiwis recorded a mammoth 511-10 in the first innings.
