Ravindra Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar

Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar taunted Ravindra Jadeja during the ongoing warm-up match between India and Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams will be held at the stadium in Nassau County Cricket in New York.

This came after Ravindra Jadeja survived a close decision in the game. It was during the 17th over of the first innings that the all-rounder joined Hardik Pandya in the middle. However, it was not a great first ball for Jadeja as he almost got the golden duck.

Bangladesh bowler Tanvir Islam bowled a fuller delivery to which Ravindra Jadeja tried to work hard. The all-rounder missed the ball and was caught right in the crease before the ball was bowled and remained there after the shot.

The Bangladesh wicketkeeper picked up the ball and removed the stumps. Ravindra Jadeja seemed to miss the crease but there was no conclusive evidence to rule it out as the cameras were not at the right angle and the umpires did not rule it out. But at first glance, he looked outward.

Sanjay Manjrekar, who was commenting, came up with a cheeky comment. He said that he looked good, but that he would have to stay tight because Ravindra Jadeja was calling the shots at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York.

“You can see it from here, but it’s Jadeja batting, so I better keep quiet.” Sanjay Manjrekar said on air.

Ravindra Jadeja – Sanjay Manjrekar Saga

For the unversed, Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja do not get along as they were involved in a dispute between them in 2019. The commentator made a massive comment about the all-rounder, saying that he does not like bits and pieces players like Jadeja. He said:

“I’m not a big fan of fragment players, like Jadeja is at this point in his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in senior cricket 50 years old, I prefer to have a batter and a spinner.”

Ravindra Jadeja, however, did not go easy on Sanjay Manjrekar when he took to his Twitter account and claimed that he has played twice as many matches as the commentator. He said:

“Still, I’ve played twice as many games as you and I’m still playing. Learn to respect people who have made it. I’ve heard enough of your verbal diarrhea.”

Coming into the match, Ravindra Jadeja faced only 6 balls in the match and scored 4 runs. With the ball, he bowled 2 overs and gave away 11 runs. He will be extremely important for the Indian team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. India will open their campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York.
