Team India is currently in the United States of America for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The main event will be jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies.

As India prepares to begin their T20 World Cup campaign, their safety has become a major talking point. Earlier this week, ISIS-K, a pro-Islamic State group, issued a threat for the high-voltage confrontation between India and Pakistan next week. A poster of the threat has been circulating on social media. The poster shows the date of the India vs Pakistan match along with the name of the Nassau Stadium.

However, the threat has not affected the movement of Indian players in and around New York. Players and other team members have moved freely around New York. Photos of the players enjoying cookouts and exploring the city have been circulating on social media. Fortunately, players have not had any security issues so far. According to a report by News18, the team has also not received any directive from the security agencies.

“The players have not been given any directives and are normally free to wander around New York. Security has been brilliant since the team landed and was also excellent during the warm-up match.” a source told the media outlet.

However, there was a security breach when India was playing the warm-up match against Bangladesh in New York on Saturday (June 1). While the Indian team was playing, a fan invaded the field to meet Rohit Sharma, but was quickly captured by security officials and removed from the field.

India seeks World Cup title:

Meanwhile, Team India is drawn in Group A along with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts United States. The Men in Blue will begin their campaign in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup on June 5 against Ireland before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9.

On June 12, India will take on the United States before taking on Canada in their final group match on June 15. India will play its first three group matches in New York, while the last match is scheduled for Florida.

India are one of the strongest contenders for the T20 World Cup this year and will be desperate to go all the way to end their long wait for a World Cup trophy. India has not won the T20 World Cup since winning the inaugural edition in 2007 and has not won any ICC trophy since 2013.
