Former spinner Harbhajan Singh praised team India after their thrilling victory over Pakistan in game 19 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India achieved a remarkable victory against their arch-rivals to register their second win in as many games in the ongoing tournament. India had their backs to the wall after being bowled out for just 119 runs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf starred in the ball for Pakistan, taking three wickets each.

In response, Pakistan scored 72 for 2 after 12 overs, needing 48 runs in as many balls with 8 wickets in hand. India were firmly on the defensive and seemed destined to end up on the losing side. However, the Rohit Sharma-led team bounced back in style and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by restricting Pakistan to 113 for 7. Jasprit Bumrah, was the difference with the ball for India, taking 3 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs. .

Harbhajan Singh praises India:

After India’s shock victory over Pakistan, Harbhajan Singh was all praise for the Men in Blue. The former India spearhead stated that the Indian team is full of players who excel under pressure and hailed India as one of the “most experienced and formidable teams” in T20s.

“Our lineup is packed with players who excel under pressure, ready to take on the toughest situations. In the T20 format, India stands out as one of the most experienced and formidable teams. Impressive bowling performances from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya were crucial in securing that victory against Pakistan,” Harbhajan told Disney Hotstar.

Speaking further, Harbhajan also said that the ongoing T20 World Cup could have more exciting finishes, saying, “I am looking forward to watching more exciting matches even as we face this challenging pitch and weather conditions. This tournament promises to offer some moments of unforgettable cricket, and I can’t wait to see our team rise to the occasion.”

Meanwhile, Team India will be in action next Wednesday (June 12) when they take on co-hosts the United States. A win over the United States will seal a place for India in the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
