The India national cricket team took a hit ahead of the West Indies tour. The pacemaker of the right arm of 26 years avesh khan reportedly suffered a shoulder injury during the ongoing 2023 Duleep Trophy.

Lucknow Super Giants pacemaker Avesh Khan has so far represented India in both ODI and T20I. He has played 5 ODIs picking up 3 wickets and 15 T20Is picking up 13 wickets. He last played in ODI on October 11, 2022 against South Africa in Delhi. While his last T20I match was against Hong Kong in Dubai on August 31, 2022.

Avesh Khan recently received a recall for the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. The India tour of the West Indies 2023 consists of a two-match Test series, a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series.

The series will begin with Test matches, which will be followed by ODIs and T20Is. The first test will be played between July 12 and 16, while the second test will be played between July 20 and 24. The ODIs will take place on July 27, July 29 and August 1. Meanwhile, T20I matches are scheduled for August 3, 6, 8, 12 and 13.

Avesh Khan suffers injury in big hit to India ahead of West Indies tour

On Wednesday 5 July, the BCCI named the India squad for the West Indies T20Is. Avesh Khan was among the 4 pacemaker specialists on the team along with Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik and Mukesh Kumar.

On the same day, he suffered a right shoulder injury during the Duleep Trophy match between the Central Zone and the West Zone, according to Sportstar.

Avesh Khan was unable to take the field on day 2 of the match after picking up the injury. Most notably, he was injured after colliding with Rinku Singh on the opening day of the four-day Duleep Trophy semi-final match at Alur while trying to catch.

After the injury, the decision was made to have him treated. Meanwhile, on Day 2, the pacer didn’t even participate in warm-up exercises.
