Yashasvi Jaiswal he was dismissed for 57 on the 21st day of the second Test in Trinidad. The left-hander scored a fifty after scoring his first Test tonne in his first Test innings. He added a standout of 139 runs from skipper Rohit Sharma (80) to set the stage for a mammoth first-innings total. On points, India reached 288/4 with Virat Kohli (86) and Ravindra Jadeja (36) unbeaten on points.

Shubman Gill (12) and Ajinkya Rahane (8) once again fell cheap, but the day was all about Jaidswal, Rohit and Kohli dominating the West Indian bowlers. Kohli has already scored a century earlier this year and this is the second highest score by him in Test cricket since 2020.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal regretted missing out on scoring consecutive hundreds. He played 74 balls to his 57 hitting nine fours and one six. He scored his runs at a strike rate of 77.03.

“Of course I am disappointed, but it happens in cricket. I have to keep learning and make sure what I can do the next time I find myself in that situation. That is the thought in every match: to establish a good platform for the team.” Jaiswal said at the end of the first day’s play at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

He further said that he is always looking to hit longer and was disappointed when he came out. Jaiswal was cutting up a Jason Holder delivery and was caught in a ravine by Kirk McKenzie.
