India take on Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match in Barbados on Thursday, June 20. This is the first Super 8 match for India. They will also play against Bangladesh and Australia.

India are unbeaten in this World Cup campaign so far and are expected to face a tough test against Afghanistan. The Afghans have defeated New Zealand, PNG, Uganda and the Windies. They have a lot of confidence.

Although India have remained unbeaten in this campaign so far, some of their batsmen are yet to find form. The initial combination of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has not worked so far. The two veteran batsmen have not scored the number of runs they would have liked so far.

Some changes are expected in the XI now that the Indian team plays its matches in the Caribbean. The pitches here are slow and help the spinners. Kuldeep Yadav should be included in the Xi, if not both him and Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal can also be considered in place of Ravindra Jadeja, who had no runs with the bat in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma (center)

Rohit will continue to lead the team and open the batting. He is yet to score a fifty in the tournament. Against USA, he was dismissed by Saurabh Netravalkar, who worked the left-arm angle in his favour.

Virat Kohli

Kohli will open the batting with Rohit Sharma. He was offside in the first ball against the United States as he was also dismissed by Netravalkar. Interestingly, his only T20I ton is against Afghanistan.

Rishabh Pant (WK)

The pants will be placed at three. He scored 18 off 20 balls against the United States. He has been among the runs in this World Cup for India and has kept Sanju Samson out of the XI.

Suryakumar Yadav

SKY will be located at four. He eventually scored an unbeaten 50 and led India in the chase against the United States. He must maintain his good form for India.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya can come in at five. With Kuldeep Yadav likely to be included in the XI, Shivam Dube may have to make way for him. Hardik has been good with the ball taking seven wickets so far in the World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja / Yuzvendra Chahal

Jadeja could fit in at six. He has been economical with the ball but he hasn’t scored too many runs with the bat. Yuzvendra Chahal could get a look against Afghanistan because of what the pitches are like in the Caribbean.

Akhar Patel

Axar Patel has been doing justice to his place in the XI. He got runs off tough pitches in New York and also took crucial wickets.

jasprit bumrah

Bumrah will lead the attack. He has so far taken five wickets in the tournament. He bowled a brilliant spell against Pakistan to win the game for India.

Mohammed Siraj

Siraj has also been impressive. He has bowled in good channels and has been a good back-up to players like Byumrah and Arshdeep Singh. He has a chance to impress against Afghanistan.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav should come into the XI as a spinner in place of Shivam Dube. Now that India will play all their games in the Caribbean, they need a spinner, and no better than Kuldeep at the moment.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep will conclude the probable Indian XI. He has so far taken seven wickets in the World Cup, the most along with Hardik Pandya.
