India takes on England in the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala from March 7-11. They have already won the series by winning the last three Test matches. After England’s victory in Hyderabad, India bounced back strongly. They won the second Test by 106 runs at Vizag, the third by 434 runs at Rajkot and the fourth Test at Ranchi by five wickets while chasing.

Jaiswal will retain his place in the XI and open the batting. He has scored 655 runs in the series so far at an average of 93.57 with two double tons. His aim is to surpass Virat Kohli’s tally in the fifth Test.

Rohit will lead the team. His captaincy has been highly praised. He has already won the series as captain and will aim to finish 4-1. The captain has scored 297 runs in the series so far at an average of 37.12.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill will bat at three. He silenced all critics of him with his match-winning knock of an unbeaten 52 in the second innings at Ranchi. He has already scored a hundred in the series. Gill is the second most run-getter with 342 runs.

Devdutt Padikkal

There are reports that Padikkal is likely to replace Rajat Patidar in the fifth Test. The left-hander joined the Indian Test team ahead of the third Test. The lanky 23-year-old left-hander has scored 2,227 runs in 31 first-class appearances at an average of 44.54 with six centuries and 12 half-centuries. This season he has scored more than 500 runs in domestic cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja has been promoted to number five in the batting order because he is a crucial left-hander. The left-hander has scored 217 runs in the series so far and has taken 17 wickets. The left-arm spinner is eight short of 300 Test wickets.

Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan will take over at six. He scored a fifty in the two innings of his Test debut. However, in the Ranchi test he scored 14 and 1. The management is willing to give him a longer rope.

Dhruv Trevally

Horse mackerel will enter at seven. He played two key knocks of 90 and 39* in the Ranchi Test and was adjudged Player of the Match. He was praised both for his batting and keeping skills and for the way he handled himself in the Test match.

Ashwin will come in at eight. He is all set to play his 100th Test match. He will join an elite list of Indian cricketers to play 100 Test matches for the country. He has taken 17 wickets in the series so far and has crossed 100 wickets against England and 500 in total.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep will come in at nine. He has shown great maturity with the bat in the series and has also taken wickets with the ball. There is talk that he will be laid to rest in Dharamsala, but he should be given another chance. The Chinese bowler has taken 12 wickets in the series so far.

Bumrah will return to the Indian XI in Dharamsala after resting from the fourth Test in Ranchi. He has so far taken 17 wickets in the series. The pacer crossed 150 Test wickets early in the series.

Sirah concludes India’s probable XI in Dharamsala. Siraj’s selection will mean that Akash Deep could be benched after his Test debut in Ranchi. In case he is also selected, India might have to drop Kuldeep. Siraj has taken six wickets in three Test matches so far.
